Although a great deal of my work is about bringing technology and museums together, my philosophy is the focus of museums should always be about their story. Technology is only a tool that museums can use, it is not a substitute for the power that the artifacts and exhibitions bring to the public.
I believe that museums have a lot of choices when it comes to telling their story. Let the stories be the focus – technology should only be a supporting role.
Are you interested in having a workshop for your team?
Over the past year I have been developing a series of workshop talks that are designed to foster communication within an institution about how to introduce technologies into a museum setting.
Some of the topics available are:
- Content Management Systems (CMS)
- Developing digital exhibitions
- Digital Asset Management Systems (DAM)
- Digitization
- Utilizing social media in museums
- Web site development
Workshops can be provided for charities and government run institutions at no cost. If extensive travel is required, a nominal travel allowance may be requested.
